Mentorship Structure:
- Commitment: 1-hour mentorship session per week
- Duration: 3 to 6 months (flexible based on mentor-mentee availability)
- Format: Virtual meetings (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.)
- Focus Areas: Career guidance, skill-building, resume/interview prep, industry insights
Mentorship Phases
1. Onboarding & Matchmaking (Week 1-2)
- Mentors and mentees complete intake forms to assess expertise and goals.
- Candidates are matched with mentors based on skill alignment and career interests.
- A 30-minute introductory meeting to align expectations and set mentorship goals.
2. Weekly Mentorship Sessions (Week 3-Onward)
- Week 1-4: Industry Insights & Career Pathways
- Discuss Tech career paths, job roles, and required skills.
- Share personal experiences and professional growth strategies.
- Week 5-8: Skill Development & Guidance
- Review mentee’s projects or coursework, providing technical feedback.
- Recommend resources and strategies to strengthen skills.
- Week 9-12: Job Search & Professional Development
- Resume and LinkedIn profile reviews.
- Interview preparation (mock interviews, behavioral & technical Q&A).
- Networking strategies and job application tips.
3. Checkpoints & Feedback
- Midpoint feedback session (Week 6) to assess progress.
- End-of-program evaluation to improve mentorship effectiveness.
Flexible Involvement for Mentors
- Mentors can choose to commit for a full 12-week cycle or opt for a shorter engagement (e.g., 4 or 8 weeks).
- Group mentorship options (panel discussions, AMA sessions) are available for those with limited time.
- Mentors can also provide asynchronous support via Slack, email, or LinkedIn.
Outcome:
Mentees gain career direction, industry insights, and job search skills, while mentors contribute to diversifying Tech talent with a minimal time commitment.
